Praise
the Lord!!
“A
faithful man will abound with blessings.” (Pro. 28:20) NKJV
“I am
regular in tithing. I never miss a Sunday service. I read the Bible every day.
I pray regularly. I give alms to the poor. I do not harm anyone. Hence, I
deserve God’s blessings more than anybody else.” These are some of the norms
that many people set for themselves to receive the Lord’s blessings. What they
sadly forget is that God’s blessings do not merely depend on their so-called
spiritual activities, but rather in having a right relationship with God and
trusting on His grace. How can we have right relationship with God? By being
faithful to Him always! We may be faithful to our spouses and faithful to our
employers. We may be faithful to many others. But are we faithful to God? Are
we faithful in giving Him the time that we ought to give? We may even be doing
His Kingdom work, but do we wait at His feet and converse with Him as often as
possible? Are we faithful in our love towards Him? Can we say with certainty,
“I do not place anything else above my Lord - my children, my job, my zeal to
earn money, or anything else?”
Dear
friends, if we are faithful to the Lord even in small matters, He will surely
honour us and reward us in due time. When David was sheperding his father’s
sheep, he never was careless in his work. He had the courage and strength to
fiercely protect each and every sheep under his care. Even when he was “on
duty” he was constantly having a close communion with the Lord. Even when he
entered Saul’s palace to take care of him, David did his part faithfully -
driving out the evil spirit from Saul. Because of his faithfulness, the Lord
made him king over Israel. His faithful heart earned him a certificate from the
Lord - “A man after my own heart.” Even regarding Moses, the Lord testified,
“He is faithful in all my house.” Do we try to please the Lord by being
faithful to Him wherever we go and in whatever we do? Proverbs 20: 6 says, “A
faithful man who can find?” Let us be faithful men and women of God and inherit
His blessings.
PRAYER: Loving Lord, help me to be
faithful even in simple matters. Let me be faithful to You in obeying you, in
showing my love to You and in extending your kingdom. Let David and Moses be my
models and let their lives motivate me to be faithful. In Jesus’ name I pray.
Amen
